The Mason Clinic

The comprehensive project involved the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the Te Miro building, an existing single-storey 150m2 weatherboard structure. This building held significant cultural importance as it served as a combined Marae and Fale. In addition to this, the Kowhai building, an administrative facility, underwent necessary alterations as part of the overall redevelopment initiative.

The project’s success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the construction team, architects, and community stakeholders, who worked together to overcome challenges and adhere to a stringent and non-negotiable construction programme as well as navigating a difficult traffic management plan.

The revitalised Te Miro building now stands as a testament to the commitment to preserving cultural heritage while meeting contemporary standards, and the renovated Kowhai building seamlessly integrates modern administrative requirements with the overall aesthetic of the campus. The project is a model of efficient project management, cultural preservation, and community-focused redevelopment.
