Teak Construction is created by a construction manager and two quantity surveyors, Alistair Bisset, John Eaton and Mike Tiplady. Site managers Garry Noakes and Brian Kempalong and administration pro Tama Wallace join them to create strong foundations for the next 14 years of growth.
Teak Construction completes work on the Takapuna Clifftop Mansion - our largest project to date. We’re proud to still be working with Craig Heatly today.
Teak has developed a reputation for being fair, reliable and professional and we’re as busy as ever. Rapid growth means we’ve outgrown our office again and we secure new premises at 34 Barrys Point Road in Takapuna.
Our reputation for high quality work and reliability spreads as we complete our 100th project. We hire further staff to expand our capacity.
Teak Construction finishes our first major refurbishment project of Australasia's tallest timber structure due to cladding issues. This project is one of the first leaky building remediation works in New Zealand, and the first of many for Teak.
Sam White becomes a shareholder in Teak Construction. He’s still our commercial director today.
Teak Construction completes work on our largest project to date - the Candida Office building on the North Shore of Auckland.
We complete the Wilson Home Design Build project, which wins a New Zealand Institute of Architects award for public architecture.
Teak Construction Group Ltd is formed, Stuart Charlton becomes a shareholder and is appointed as general manager.
Wayne Birchall becomes a shareholder at Teak Construction and is appointed as managing director. Teak Construction continues its rapid growth and moves to a purpose built office in Glenfield.
Teak Construction now has over 50 employees and achieves an annual turnover exceeding $100 million.
We complete construction for one of premises for one of New Zealand’s most anticipated new businesses - Krispy Kreme in Manukau.
Teak Construction continues its rapid growth and purchases a secondary office in Huntly to expand our presence in the North Island. Next, we purchase another office in Glenfield to house our growing team.
What a year this was. Teak Construction battle a worldwide pandemic along with the team of 5 million. Our staff are all unable to work during level 4 lockdown but Teak Construction supports them financially and holds Friday afternoon work drinks via Zoom.
To welcome our staff back and thank them for their dedication, we expand an entertainment area at our Glenfield office including a pool table, dart board, full kitchen and honours board to acknowledge their achievements.
